Fortuitously, by the time we realised - thanks to Chicago Public Radio - that every good American around us was celebrating Father's Day, we were already speeding along the open road in a borrowed car on our way to lunch in the only Kyrgyz restaurant in town. And what a good choice! Sendational borsht, fantastic plov!
Then, we went to the zoo. Rufus seemed quite keen to drive us there himself.

And here's a treat for those who, like me, love nothing more than a quick stroll down Memory Lane, HERE's a picture of Jacob wearing the same outfit as Rufus, on a trip to the same zoo. Jacob is 15 months or so in that picture, which gives me hope I will be able to dress Rufus up in this outfit for a while yet. And, again, here- posing with the same tractor.
