We celebrated the start of this New Year with a trip to Starved Rock State Park, by the banks of the Illinois river. The last time we went was in 2008, when Jacob was a portable little chap - see here.
This time, Rufus and Leila were not so portable, and yet very much in favour of being carried. So we did not end up doing quite as much walking as some of us would have liked, but it was otherwise quite a heavenly little break. The children loved our cabin - Lincoln Logs!!! - though Rufus was rather disconcerted at first that it lacked a "downstairs." The weather was beautiful - clear and bright, and not windy at all.
