We moved to Holland in September. The children were enrolled in a Dutch public/state school, less than 18 months after they were first enrolled in a German public school.
We have all had the opportunity to compare life in Southern Germany to life in Southern Holland - we have been comparing primary education, attitudes to childrearing, to integration, grocery shopping, public transport, national foibles... which has been and is very interesting, but also exhausting: this moving from country to country.
It is looking as though 2018 might be our first year without a long distance move in four years, after moving from Chicago to Maine in 2015, from Maine to Tübingen in 2016, and to Hazerswoude-Rijndijk in 2017. We may well, however, make a short distance move, from the agroindustrial Groene Hart of Holland into Leiden itself later this year, if we can swing it.
