Jacob gave his own names to his siblings a few months before they were born, and continued to call them Sammy and Picture for a while after they came home. Since then, rather than call them by the names we chose, which he spurns, he has decided to call them Robot and Peach.
But when he is unsure about which is which, most often he will come up to me when I am holding a baby and inquire "is that a brother or a sister?" He's getting better at telling them apart though - this morning at breakfast he inspected the infant in my lap and said "he's a brother because he has a mucky eye." Quite right!
